Doing further research I found out it is better to leave the motor in until the front suspension is removed. This is so the springs stay under load and are easier to remove from the A arms. So I continued removal of other parts before removing the front suspension and motor and transmission.
Removal of the gas tank cover only took removal of eight bolts four on top and four under the chassis.I had to remove the gas line feed and overflow as well as the vent line to the canister.
I scraped and brushed dirt from the frame and associated parts. So now I am ready to remove the gas tank cover and the tank and feed lines and vent lines.Pictures will follow.
